Avatar for Best Picture?

Sunday night I ended up only watching the 1st quater of the Super Bowl. It finally started around 12:30am here and I was already tired to begin with. When it started the announcers were speaking in English and I got really excited. But, then these two French men came on and they started talking over the normal commentary which was really annoying because it made it even harder to listen to the French guys because I could here parts of what the other announcers were saying in English. I think they finally figured out how to stop the other announcers voices so it just ended up being the French guys. The way that they called the game was really weird. They seriously went through all the rules of football. For example, they explained downs and what the colored lines meant on the screen for the line of scrimage and the 1st down line. I was really annoyed...but I guess most people in France don't watch American football so they really wouldn't understand the rules. They used a lot of the words that we use in English like down (for first down, except it was premier down and not first down) and touchdown, and all the positions. There was one that was different though, instead of flag it was drapeau, which is flag in French. I wasn't very impressed with the Saints, who I wanted to win, in the first quarter so once it ended I went to bed. I also didn't get to see any of the commercials because when it was a commercial break at home, the camera would just stay on the field and the French announcers kept talking about stupid stuff. It was nice to finally watch football again, not gonna lie.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. Katie texted me and asked what I was doing today and the only thing I had planned on doing was going to FNAC to buy the two cds that I have been searching for. We decided to meet after I went to the store at this one metro stop on the 1. I went to FNAC, after getting lost in Les Halles, which I always do for some reason, and found the B.B. Brunes cd. It was 17.99 euro, which I thought was a little expensive but I haven't bought a cd in a long time so maybe that's just the normal price. I looked for the Christophe Mae cd and ended up finding it but it wasn't his new one with the song I like so I didn't get it. When I was on the metro going to meet Katie, I was sitting down and this really big guy (I mean like REALLY BIG) got on and decided to sit down next to me. It's probably because my hair was looking really good. Anyways, so I scooted over as much as I could but this guy was so big I was literally smooshed in my seat. I was like plastered to the wall. I was really glad that my stop was the next one.

Katie and I went to Musee de l'Orangerie which is most known for housing some of Monet's water-lily or Nympheas paintings (they are called both). We got in for free of course! I get really excited when I get in for free for some reason...my little piece of paper that says I'm an art student has saved me so much money, no lie. The bottom floor is where the majority of the paintings are. There are many impressionist paintings here from Cezanne, Matisse, Monet, and Renoir. There are also a lot of Picasso paintings as well as a bunch of other painters I have never heard of. The paintings were really cool, however, many of them weren't there because they are on loan to other museums across the world. They had pictures of the paintings hanging on the walls instead which was really lame. There was an exhibit there about the child models that the painters used. The exhibit was filled with old people. Seriously, there were so many old people there. I think they were all trying to recapture their youth by looking at all these paintings of little kids. We went upstairs which is where the Monet paintings are. The way that they are displayed is amazing. The walls were painted in colors that complimented the paintings perfectly and I guess there is some fancy state of the art lighting system that doesn't harm the paintings. They are layed flat on concaved walls so they surround you. It's really hard to explain and of course I don't have a picture...I wasn't sure if you could take any. I'll have to go back and take one because it was just amazing.

We left the museum and headed to the movie theatre because we had nothing else to do. We went to the monoprix first to grab something to eat because we were hungry and to obvs get some candy because there was no way we were going to pay for the over priced candy at the theatre. The theatre that we went to (MK2 Bibliotheque) is pretty cheap. I believe it's 5.90 euro every day except Saturday, or something like that. We ended up seeing Avatar in 3D. I really didn't want to see it but Katie really did and I have to admit I was a little curious as to why everyone saw this movie and wanted to know what all the hype was about. The 3D glasses were like real glasses, not like the card board ones you usually get and then toss when you're done. These were extreme glasses or something. The movie was cool, not gonna lie. Visually, it was amazing but the story line was kinda dumb and it's been done a million times before. Plus, blue giant people are weird. I really don't understand why it was nominated for Best Picture. I mean it's the highest grossing movie of all time but does that mean it should be nominated for Best Picture? I don't know...we'll have to see if it wins or not, but that's not until March. Sidenote, the guy who played Jake Sully was really hot; as a human, not an Avatar.

Today I really didn't do anything. Renee texted me this morning and told me she wouldn't be here this afternoon or tonight because she's going out. I went to the store to pick up some food for tonight and the rest of the week in case she won't be here. I've been listening to my B.B. Brunes cd and it's pretty sweet. I love it. I haven't figured out what they are saying on most of the songs, but the lyrics were included so I need to check them out. Oh, I've been watching a lot of Dexter lately and I just figured out (well saw) who the Ice Truck Killer is!!!! gasp! Also, I think there's something wrong with my left shift button...it doesn't work all the time.

A bientot
